Wimbledon (3rd round): Fritz – Zverev and Federer – Norrie

Taylor Fritz – Alexander Zverev

A lot of respect for Taylor Fritz who did not have the best preparation for Wimbledon (he had a knee operation and resumed training only a few days before this Grand Slam tournament).

The American won the last match against Alexander Zverev and has already managed to put the German in trouble at Wimbledon. That was in 2018 and the match ended in a fifth set.

However, I doubt that the American will be able to defeat the world number 6. First of all, because he has a 79% loss rate against players in the Top 10, but more importantly, because he played two physically demanding matches in the first half. This could be felt a little more against this opponent who is quite demanding in this area.

Alexander Zverev is reliable this week. His serve is hard to take and he is outstanding in the offensive phases. Taylor Fritz’s tennis is a little more choppy and that could be the difference in this match.

Prediction: Alexander Zverev

Medium risk

Roger Federer – Cameron Norrie

Cameron Norrie reaches the third round of Wimbledon for the first time in his career. If you look at her performances closely, it’s totally deserved.

I expect Roger Federer to win this match. His second round match against Richard Gasquet was more reassuring and he obviously has what it takes to beat the British. Also, he might not have as much support from the crowd as he has had in his last few matches since the Swiss is also very popular here.

Apart from that, Cameron Norrie has a nearly 88% loss record against Top 10 players (100% on grass), while Roger Federer has a 100% win record in the 3rd round of Wimbledon (out of 17 matches though).

The key to this match is in the hands of Roger Federer. I expect him to find the lock to open the door to the second week of his favorite Grand Slam tournament.

Prediction: Roger Federer

Low risk
